Uninhabited islands, cliff-backed coves and quiet reef breaks, mostly with nothing built on the sand and barely a soul around.
Away from Kuta, Senggigi and the main Gilis, a lot of Lombok’s coastline still looks like this. There are uninhabited islands off Sekotong, coves on the east coast that are easier to reach by boat than by road, and wide south coast bays where you might share the sand with a few fishermen and nobody else. Some of it won’t stay this way for long. Parts of the south coast, Torok in particular, are seeing a lot of new development, and will look quite different in a year or two. We’ll keep this page updated as things change.
Remote means no or limited facilities. Most of these spots have a few to no warungs, toilets or shade, and phone signal can be patchy, so bring cash, water, food and sun protection, and let someone know where you’re heading. Take your rubbish back out with you too, because there’s no one to collect it.
