Gili Pasir, also known as Sand Island, is a sandbar sitting in open water off Lombok's southeastern coast that only emerges when the tide drops low enough. At the right moment, it looks like a strip of white sand rising directly out of the sea, with nothing else around, a genuinely striking, slightly surreal sight and a favorite quick photo stop on the wider Pink Beach island-hopping circuit.
It's a popular stop for families and groups of all ages precisely because there's not much to it beyond the novelty, walk the sandbar, take photos, spot the odd starfish in the shallows, and move on to the next stop.

The whole point of Gili Pasir depends on the tide, at low tide the sandbar is exposed and walkable, with calm, shallow water lapping at its edges and the occasional starfish visible in the sand. At high tide, it can shrink dramatically or disappear underwater entirely, so timing genuinely matters here more than at any other stop on this list.

Reached by boat only, typically around 15 to 20 minutes from Tanjung Luar Harbour, making it one of the closer stops on the circuit. It's almost always visited as part of a broader day tour taking in Pink Beach, Gili Petelu, and Gili Gambir, tour operators generally plan the day around the tide schedule so this stop lines up with when the sandbar is actually visible.

Nothing permanent, this is a sandbar, not an island with any real infrastructure. Some tour operators set up a temporary swing or simple photo prop for the day, but there's no shade, food, or facilities of any kind. Treat this purely as a brief, striking photo stop within a longer trip.
