The original Pink Sand
Pink Beach 1, also known locally as Tangsi Beach, is the most established and most visited of the three pink beaches along this stretch of Lombok's southeastern coast, all in the village of Sekaroh, Jerowaru. The pink comes from tiny fragments of red coral, foraminifera, mixed into the white sand, more visible in strong sunlight and shallower water.
Worth setting expectations here: this isn't the vivid, unmistakably pink sand of Komodo's famous Pink Beach, which is genuinely in a different league for colour intensity. Tangsi's tint is real but subtle, a soft rose hue that shifts with the light and time of day, sometimes clearly visible, sometimes closer to an ordinary white. Come appreciating it for what it is rather than expecting Komodo, and it won't disappoint.
Beyond the sand itself, Tangsi functions as the main hub for the area, it's where most boat rentals depart from for trips further out to Pink Beach 2, Pink Beach 3, Gili Petelu, and Pulau Pasir, making it the natural starting point for anyone planning to see more than one of these spots in a day.

The water here is shallow and calm, well suited to relaxed swimming, with a clear blue-green gradient further out. A reef sits just offshore with decent snorkeling among tropical fish, bringing your own gear is worth it for a more comfortable experience, though the option to rent is generally available locally.
GETTING THERE
Access & parking
By land, it's roughly 1.5 to 2 hours from Kuta Lombok, mostly on paved road, though the last few kilometres narrow and get bumpier. An alternative is arriving by boat from Tanjung Luar Harbour, which also gives good views along the coast on the way in. Either route works, driving gives more flexibility, the boat is a scenic option if you're combining it with the harbour's fish market.

This is the best-equipped of the three pink beaches. Warungs, gazebos, toilets, changing rooms, and a proper parking area are all available, along with boat and snorkel gear rental for anyone wanting to continue on to the other nearby spots. It's the sensible base to start from if you're not already on an organised tour.

No lifeguard on duty. If snorkeling, avoid stepping on or touching the coral to help keep the reef intact for future visitors.
When to visit
Morning through midday gives the strongest sunlight, which brings out the pink tint most clearly. A short climb up the small hill beside the beach is worth it too, for a panorama looking back down over the bay.

Pink Beach 2 has softer sand and a quieter, smaller bay, but essentially no facilities. Pink Beach 1 trades a little of that seclusion for warungs, toilets, gazebos, and the convenience of being the departure point for boat trips further out.
