OVERVIEW
Boat-hopping between mainland and island
East Lombok is the quietest of the island's coastlines, and the one most shaped by boats, whether that's island-hopping between the Secret Gilis or just getting to a mainland cove further down the coast. Two clusters anchor the region: the Sekaroh circuit near Tanjung Luar, home to the rose-tinted sand of Pink Beach and the reef around Gili Petelu, and the Sambelia circuit further north, a separate, lesser-known set of islands including Gili Kondo. Between them, a handful of mainland coves like Kaliantan and Tanjung Bloam sit further off the beaten path than almost anywhere else documented on this site.
This isn't a coastline for a quick stop. Most of what's here takes a boat, a long drive, or both, and several of these beaches see barely a visitor in a week. That remoteness is exactly what makes them worth the trip.
