The reef that outshines its neighbors
Gili Rengit, sometimes spelled Gili Ringit, is a tiny, uninhabited island roughly ten minutes further by boat past Gili Layar. It doesn't have any of the small infrastructure its neighbor has, but it has earned a real reputation among people who actually dive and snorkel this part of Lombok, one dedicated snorkeling source specifically called its coral out as some of the healthiest in the entire area, better than Layar's.
Crystal clear water and a genuinely healthy reef are the main draw here over its neighbors. It's also known locally as a decent fishing spot, on top of the snorkeling and diving.

GETTING THERE
Access & parking
Boat only, roughly 40 to 55 minutes from Tawun Harbour or Lembar, factoring in the extra stretch past Gili Layar. Most visitors combine it with a stop at Layar or one of the other secret Gilis on the same trip rather than visiting Rengit alone.

Facilities
Nothing. Gili Rengit is uninhabited with no facilities of any kind, no toilets, no shade beyond whatever natural cover exists. Bring everything you'll need for the day.
TIMING
When to visit
Dry season, May through October, for the calmest boat crossing and the clearest water. Given the extra distance from the harbor compared to the closer secret Gilis, sea conditions matter even more here.

WHY CHOOSE THIS ONE
Gili Layar has the one small bungalow and a slightly shorter boat ride. Gili Rengit trades that convenience for better coral and total solitude, no accommodation, no other visitors most days. If the reef itself is the priority over any creature comforts, Rengit is worth the extra distance.
