The saltwater waterfall
Nambung's signature feature is genuinely unusual, a natural saltwater waterfall, where waves off the Indian Ocean strike a wall of karst rock and flow back down over the cliff face like a falls. It's a striking effect and a strong pull for photographers, framed by clean white sand, clear blue-green water, and rugged cliffs and hills along this stretch of the southwest coast.
Nambung actually shares the same continuous stretch of sand as Pengantap further along the shore, two ends of one beach rather than entirely separate spots. There's also a small reef break just offshore here, nothing on the scale of the south coast's dedicated surf beaches, but a pleasant surprise if conditions line up during your visit.

TIMING
When to visit
Morning through afternoon on a clear day gives the best overall visit, but if the waterfall itself is the goal, check tide times and aim for high tide with some swell running. Without both of those, the "waterfall" may just be waves lapping at the rocks.

Facilities
A parking area, simple local warungs, and a few gazebos are available near the entrance. Facilities stay basic beyond that, this is a sightseeing stop rather than a beach day destination.
GETTING THERE
Access & parking
About 1 hour 5 minutes from Kuta Lombok by car or scooter on a paved road. From the parking area, it's a 10 to 15 minute walk over a rocky path to reach the waterfall viewpoint, comfortable, non-slip footwear is genuinely worth having for this stretch.
THE WATERFALL
When it actually appears
This only works under the right conditions, incoming tide needs to be high and the swell needs enough size for waves to genuinely crash over the rock face. At low tide, or on a calm day, the waterfall effect can be minimal or simply not appear at all, so this is one to time carefully rather than assume will be there on arrival.
GOOD TO KNOW
No lifeguard on duty. The wider beach is calm and swimmable, but stay well clear of the water right at the waterfall itself, and wear non-slip footwear on the rocky path leading to it.

Great for a swim, just not at the falls
WHERE TO BE CAREFUL
The wider beach here is calm and swimmable, part of the same stretch shared with Pengantap. The one exception is right at the waterfall itself, where waves strike the karst cliff face, that area is for viewing and photography only, not for getting in the water, keep a respectful distance from the cliff edge and don't stand too close to where waves are breaking.
