The Secret Gilis' snorkeling highlight
Gili Nanggu is one of the Secret Gilis reached from Tawun Harbour, and a popular pick for day trips. It's consistently rated the snorkeling highlight of the eastern cluster, tropical white sand, crystal clear water, and plenty of coral and colorful fish close to shore.
Despite the "secret" branding shared across this whole group of islands, Nanggu is genuinely popular with day trip snorkeling tours, worth knowing before expecting total solitude here specifically.

Conditions on the ground
The water is clear and calm, well suited to both swimming and snorkeling, with good coral visible close to the beach, no need to swim far out. This is one of the more reliably pleasant spots in the whole Secret Gilis cluster for exactly that reason.
GETTING THERE
Access & parking
Reached by boat from Tawun Harbour, roughly 1 hour 20 minutes from Senggigi by car. Many day tours combine Gili Nanggu with Gili Sudak and Gili Kedis in the same trip, since they sit close together and share the same route out from the harbour.

No lifeguard on duty. Avoid stepping on coral while snorkeling, and confirm return timing with your boat operator before setting out.

Basic facilities are available for day trippers, simple food options and shade, though this isn't set up for overnight stays the way Gili Gede or Gili Asahan are. Most visitors treat it as a stop within a broader Secret Gilis tour.

WHY CHOOSE THIS ONE
Gili Gede is the largest and most developed of the group, with proper resorts for an overnight stay. Nanggu is the better day-trip option if snorkeling close to shore is the priority and you don't need accommodation on the island itself.
