Gili Sudak sits between Gili Nanggu and Gili Kedis on the standard Secret Gilis route, and most tours treat it as the designated stopover, calm, shallow water that's comfortable even for hesitant swimmers, a genuine seafood lunch, and the one island in this trio with accommodation if you want to stay rather than just pass through.
Coral here isn't as dense as at Nanggu, but there's still decent snorkeling just offshore, worth bringing a mask even if lunch and a swim are the main plan.

Calm, shallow water makes this a comfortable spot for a relaxed swim, genuinely one of the more beginner-friendly stops among the Secret Gilis. Coral is lighter than at Gili Nanggu nearby, but there's still a reasonable patch of reef just offshore worth a look if you've brought a mask, this isn't purely a swim-only stop, just a less serious snorkel than Nanggu's.

No lifeguard on duty. The calm, shallow water is comfortable for most swimmers, but confirm return timing with your boat operator before setting out. Wet season (especially January) can bring noticeably more plastic and debris onto the sand, dry season is the better bet for clean conditions.

When to visit, honestly
Dry season (roughly May to October) gives the cleanest water and sand across the whole Secret Gilis route. Wet season, especially around January, can bring in a genuinely significant amount of plastic and debris washing up on shore, among the worst seen anywhere on the island during that window. If a clean beach day is the priority, this is one to plan for dry season rather than assume will look like the photos year-round.

WHY CHOOSE THIS ONE
Gili Nanggu has the denser coral and better marine life if snorkeling is the main goal. Sudak is the better all-rounder for the day, a relaxed swim, a proper seafood lunch, still-decent snorkeling just offshore, and the option to stay overnight, the natural stopover point on the route rather than a lesser version of Nanggu.
