West Coast Sunset Viewpoints
Four spots along Lombok's west coast where the road pulls back, the Gilis and Bali's Mount Agung line up on the horizon and the sunset does the rest.
Not every great view on this coast belongs to a beach. Along the road between Senggigi and Bangsal, a handful of roadside pull offs and hilltop clearings give some of the best sunset panoramas on the island, looking out over the Gili Islands, and on clear evenings, across the strait to Bali's Mount Agung. These four are the ones worth knowing, three easy roadside stops, and one short, exposed climb to a sea temple just south of Senggigi.
SENGGIGI VIEW
Senggigi Bay Viewpoint
Right on Jalan Raya Senggigi, between Senggigi Beach and Nipah, this is one of the most popular viewpoints on the coast, looking straight out over Senggigi Bay with Mount Agung visible across the strait on clear evenings. A few local warungs sit alongside the pull-off, with a short footpath along the roadside leading to the main viewing spots.

MALIMBU VIEW
Malimbu Hill
The most iconic of the four, and for good reason. Malimbu looks out over its own bay and the Lombok Strait, with Gili Trawangan, Gili Meno, and Gili Air all visible together, plus Mount Agung on clear days. Warungs sell young coconuts, snacks, and souvenirs right at the viewpoint, with an easy footpath from the parking area to the main lookout.
This stretch of road is also the main route to Bangsal Harbour and the Gilis, so it doubles as a natural stop if you're already heading that way.

MALAKA HILL
Malaka Hill
A quieter, less-visited alternative to Malimbu, further along the same Senggigi-Pemenang route. It looks down over Malaka Beach with the same three-Gili panorama, generally with fewer people around than the more famous viewpoint nearby. Warungs and rest stops are available along the road.

BATU BOLONG VIEW
Pura Batu Bolong
The outlier of the four, and worth the stop. Pura Batu Bolong is a Hindu sea temple perched on a rocky outcrop just south of central Senggigi, reached by car, scooter, or taxi right to the site, with a short but genuinely exposed set of stairs up to the temple platform itself. It's the most photographed sunset spot on this stretch of coast, the temple's silhouette against the orange sky has become something of a signature Lombok image.
Entry is free, though a small donation is customary, and a sarong is required to enter, available to borrow at the gate. Arrive around 45 minutes before sunset to get in position and catch the best light on the temple itself, not just the horizon.
