Three coves, one shoreline
Tampah and Lancing are two ends of the same long, curved bay, Lancing to the west, Tampah to the east, rather than separate beaches. It's quieter and less developed than Selong Belanak, though that's beginning to shift, Tampah Hills, a hillside villa resort taking its name from the beach below it, now overlooks the eastern end of the bay, and a handful of small businesses have opened at beach level to go with it.
The setting is what stands out most, a wide, open crescent beneath a line of green hills, with views that stretch further along the coast than most of the more established beaches nearby.

Conditions on the ground
Conditions vary a little between the two ends of the bay. Tampah, at the eastern end, generally has calmer, clearer water, good for swimming and known locally as a decent casual snorkeling spot. Toward Lancing at the western end, a more consistent, powerful break picks up, with both left and right-hand waves suited to experienced surfers rather than beginners. Conditions can change with the weather and tide, so it's worth checking with a local before assuming the whole bay is swim-friendly on any given day.
GETTING THERE
Access & parking
About 15 to 20 minutes west of Kuta along the main coastal road, a scenic but sparsely signposted route, worth having a map or asking locally if unsure. The road itself is paved for most of the way.
WHAT'S THERE
Cafés, warungs & activities
Facilities are genuinely growing here without tipping into overdevelopment. At the Lancing end, Biras Beach Bar sits right on the sand alongside Warung Abangan for simple local food, and Folk Coffee is a short walk inland near the entrance to Sky Lancing, a paragliding and skydiving operator that runs tandem flights over the bay from a launch point above the beach. At the Tampah end, Warung Nang serves food close to the water, near the spot most commonly used for snorkeling. Beyond that, facilities stay minimal, no beach club, no larger restaurant strip yet.

GOOD TO KNOW
No lifeguard on duty. Conditions shift across the bay, calm swimming water at the Tampah end doesn't guarantee the same near Lancing, particularly close to the surf breaks, so it's worth checking locally before swimming further along.
TIMING
When to visit
Mornings are best for calm water, snorkeling, and photography, while the dry season, April through October, brings sunnier weather and clearer water throughout. Evenings are worth staying for too, the hills and open bay make for one of the quieter sunset spots on this stretch of coast.

WHY CHOOSE THIS ONE
Selong Belanak has the established surf school scene and a genuine beach town built up around it. Tampah and Lancing are earlier in that same arc, still quiet, with just a beach bar, a café, and a paragliding launch rather than a full strip of businesses. Worth visiting now for the space and the views, while it's still closer to undeveloped than not.
